The Hidden Hill of Himachal
The hidden gem of Himachal is the Barot Valley, an offbeat place without the huge crowd, but at the same time possessing the same hill station aura. It is breathtakingly beautiful. We were initially staying in 33 degrees and suddenly reached a place where the temperature was 12 degrees. We were awestruck by the gigantic Uhl river which was flowing all through the town, and it felt like it was with us throughout the journey giving us company. There was a full filmy feel.(Alexa play yeh haseen waadiyann!)
We reached our guest house which was like a haunted house of the movies(I am a movie lover ๐ ), it had an archaic look, big fireplace, and a scary housekeeper too! The current kept going to add to the eerie feels and to my horror, when i was alone one day, a GUEST arrived..... The guest was none other than Jerry (yes i named it ๐) a big mouse with wide eyes ๐ญ. To my surprise it turned out we both were equally scared of each other!
The next morning we heard birds singing melodious songs without missing a beat like they were trained singers. I slept for some more time and was awaken by some sounds. I rushed to my bedroom window and saw an unique view like the one I had never seen before.....
The goat, sheep and cow were grazing the grass peacefully and just like me, the tall mountains stared at the animals in dismay as they seemed fearless in spite of being in such close proximity with humans and enjoyed their food as if no one was around! I was astonished as i had never seen so many animals near me grazing away.
After a long staring session we went to see the famous fish farm to witness trouts swimming in artificial ponds. I noticed that the trouts were so peaceful unaware that they were going to soon get sold, as compared to humans who fear every little thing and worry as we are capable of thinking, predicting and rationalizing, sometimes ignorance is bliss!!
So if you want a quite serene stay near the mountains and the river, visit the Barot Valley, but do not spend more than 3-4 days there as it does not have many places to see or roam but is good to have a relaxing pleasant time or for the adventure lovers it is a treat who love to trek or hike in the mountains!
